I'm planning a build of this project, but don't have much experience with Arduino and serial/USB communication. What I get from your statement above is that an Arduino's Tx/Rx pins CAN NOT be used to send messages to a zoom pedal? IF you are going to be using a USB shield (like what I have done) - you CANNOT....

Yeah, I finally found some clear information as to how the Uno's Tx/Rx works, and what the difference is between a USB host & device. I thought I could get away without having to order a USB shield. There's one on the way now. It's a shame the shield uses so many pins.

Hello Lawrence,
I have one more question about the USB Shield mirror ...
1. Can I use 2 mirror USB shield with the same arduino to control an MS70cdr and an MS50G with a cable for each pedal with the same code? or would you have to change the code?
PS: I thought of using the same arduino with two overlapping mirrors to control different pedals each with its own USB cable.
Thank you for taking my order.

No you cannot do that... use two USB shields... But you can tweak the code to use a USB hub and connect two USB devices and use different messages for each of the devices. Hi Lawrence, would this hub be suitable for what I need? Connect 2 Zoom MS50g and MS70cdr pedals in the Arduino with the USB host shield ?? fr.aliexpress.com/store/product/USB2-0-HUB-Data-Concentrator-Module-Self-Supply-Bus-Supply-GL850G-Memory-Module/1829717_32718744717.htmlNo you cannot do that... use two USB shields...
